Prefect Craft for Mothers day
My favorite thing to get for Mothers day is anything handmade. I love the cards that they put work into. M made me a special Mothers day gift this year at Girl Scouts. I am excited to get one that I didn’t have to help plan!
This year I am going to help my Girl Scout troop plan one for their mothers this year. We are going to make thumbprint necklaces. What an awesome keepsake. Â I have bought a pack of Sculpey clay in multiple colors. I got mine on Amazon cheap. Here is a link directly there
My example is in grey because I want the girls to have the most color selections.
Things needed to make a thumbprint keepsake necklace
-Polyform clay -rounded pencil -baking sheet – string for necklace -a thumb or finger
First break off a small piece of the clay.
Now work with it to warm it and make it more pliable. Roll into a ball
Next take a round pencil and roll it flat into a circle or oval shape
The next thing is important. To remove the disk from the counter use an envelope to slid under the disk. Otherwise you will turn the edge up.
Now press down with the childs finger or thumb. Press firmly enough to make an indentation in the clay.
Place on a cookie sheet and bake at 275 for about 10-12 minutes or until hard.
Let cool and use string to make the chain.
Wrap it up for a special gift for mom!
I love receiving the handmade gifts too. Those will be forever cherished. My Daughter is a GS Brownie and I would love it if she brought one of these home. I would sport it proudly. What a wonderful craft and gift. Thank you for sharing.
This would be a nice gift for grandmas too. (If you really want to go fancy, you can get silver clay, which after it’s baked the non metal binder burns off and you have a piece of metallic silver.)
