A Road Trip to Nana’s with Ford
Family is really important to me. My family all live quite far away from me. Thankfully I have amazing in-laws that aren’t far! My mother in law lives in Georgia. We plan birthdays with her every few years for the kids and my husband. She enjoys being able to plan their special day too!
This year we spent my youngest daughter’s birthday with Nana. We decided to give her a few surprises. The first one was Ford let us have a 2019 Expedition Limited Max for the weekend. I raised my children in a 2001 Ford Expedition, so this was a walk down memory lane for me.
For my youngest, Margaret it was a dream come true. She had always wanted to have the 3rdrow seat to herself. Which in this phenomenal Expedition there is reclining seats in the 3rdrow along with USB ports and cup holders on each side. Little did she know we had another surprise in store that would change her plans. We had one stop along the way to pick up the surprise gift. We told Margaret that her gift was at the Mall in Jacksonville.
Everyone got comfy for the hour ride to the mall. That morning was a little rainy at first and the automatic windshield wipers came in super handy! Once we arrived at the mall. I pulled next to a car as far out as you can possibly park. Margaret didn’t notice her best friend (she moved away months ago) getting out of that car. Sophia came up to the window and startled Margaret a little. She soon realized that her second gift was her best friend going to Nana’s for the weekend with us.
I got out and did the cool kick the back bumper to open the back liftgate to add Sophia’s stuff. I could have used that when I had a baby on my hip and a toddler holding my hand. Technology sure has come a long way in the last decade. The young mom in me was very envious.
This Expedition even had its own Wi-Fi! Plus it had the ability to use my Apple phone and Siri hands free while driving. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that feature. Using a cell phones while driving is becoming my biggest pet peeve. Ford makes it safe to use a few features from your phone with the push of a button on the steering wheel and voice commands. Oh and a wireless charger so you don’t have to fool with cords! Ford Cares <3
Ford actually cares for its families. Whether you’re a customer or an employee doesn’t really change much. As a customer of Bozard Ford in St Augustine Florida for over 4 years I am impressed with the treatment we have received. We own a F-150 we purchased from Bozard Ford used. I have NEVER been treated so well and like a VIP as I have with them. Although I hear all Southern Ford Dealers are like this.
Ford also treats their employees like family. My husband has family that lives in Louisville Kentucky. His Uncle retired from the Ford plant there. His cousin has been an employee most of his life and the cousin’s child works there too. They have treated the family like family. Seems to me that Ford is Family.
So back to our road trip to Nana’s. We loaded back in and got comfy again. Everyone dosed off and I was able to see them in the built-in backseat mirror. I set the cruise control once I got on I-75. It took me a few minutes to realize the cruise control wasn’t broken it was the amazing adaptive cruise control.
I almost didn’t return to the vehicle for this feature alone! If a slower car gets in front of you when you’re using the cruise control it will automatically keep a safe distance (you can select the distance on the steering wheel) and slow you down. Once the car gets back over it sped back up to my original set speed. Super cool feature.
One of my favorite memories with my old Expedition hit me as I was driving the new one. My nephew was about 11 years old when we purchased our old Expedition. We didn’t have side steps put on and he couldn’t quite climb in. Instead he laid on his stomach on the floorboards and rolled into the vehicle. It was so funny. We all laughed so hard. The 2019 Expedition I was driving had automatic side steps that come open when you open the door.
Everyone slept for most of the ride. Normally my husband stays awake but the silence and heated 2ndrow seats lulled him off to sleep. There was no outside noise or vibration from the road. Just the amazing sound system that played SirusXM. As I got off the interstate everyone began to stir.
We soon arrived at Nana’s. We all ran to hug her. Nana had outdone herself this time. She made a homemade cake that was so delicious I ate two pieces. She also made homemade spaghetti sauce that was great too! She filled our bellies with food and our hearts with love as any good Nana should. We all laughed over the stories she told of my husband’s youth.
Before we knew it, our weekend had come to an end. We all reluctantly loaded back into the Expedition for the long ride home. Thankfully we had the back-up camera, or I would not have made it out of her tiny driveway. The ride back to I-75 is so beautiful with the pecan trees all in straight rows.
As we rode home, we all tried to talk my husband into purchasing this excellent vehicle. I loved that the 2019 Expedition offered me storage like a mini van, room for the ride like a conversion van, and the luxury of a high-end sports car. We ultimately decided we no longer need the room that the Expedition has. My search to upgrade the F-150 will continue! We safely made it home and returned the vehicle to Bozard. Adding more memories to our minds, hearts and photo albums.
Thank you to Southern Ford Dealers and Bozard Ford for helping me make my daughters 15thBirthday EXTRA special.
