American Goulash

My mom made Goulash quite often when I was a kid. Its the meal I always request when I go home although I rarely make it in my own house. Last night it sounded wonderful so I called up mom and got the recipe. Its so simple that it only take 15 minutes to make.

American Goulash is perfect for any busy weeknight.   Even better make it before work and warm it up. It tastes even better the next day. My family puts a little pat of butter in after its warmed and its so fabulous! My moms other tip is to only use Campbells tomato soup. She says it doesn’t taste the same with the off brand.

Recipe for Goulash:

1 lb ground beef
1 lb macaroni noodles cooked to directions
1 can tomato soup (concentrated, mom says only Campbell’s works)
1 can tomato sauce (15 ounces)
1 can stewed tomatoes (or diced about 15 ounce too)
1 medium onion chopped

Brown the beef and onion and drain. I always give mine a good rinse to get off more of the fat. Add the soup, sauce, and tomatoes to the pan from the beef. Heat up the sauce over medium until hot, add the beef and onion. Now pour over the pasta and serve. My mom always served it with a pat of butter and buttered slice of bread.
