Day 28: Anise Hard Candy


Anise candy always reminds me of my mom. I remember her standing over the stove making it on Christmas Eve. She would put green food coloring in it and I would have to try my best to be patient as she made it.

Ingredients:

2 cups sugar
2/3 cup corn syrup
1 cup water
Dash of salt
¼ tsp anise extract
Green food coloring
Directions:
Grease a cookie sheet well and set aside. In a small saucepan; combine all the sugar, corn syrup, water, and salt. Stir over medium heat until It reaches a boil. rock candy
Once it boils DO NOT STIR again until it is done. Reduce heat to low.

This slows the process but keeps you from having a dark amber colored candy.
