An Italian Obsession Book Review

This is a different kind of novel from Kfir Luzzatto. Having read many others by him, I enjoyed this one even more than the others and this shows the versatility in his writing style. This is a love story. Roberto fell in love with Alessandra the moment he laid eyes on her briefly in their 5th grade choir class. There was just something about her until then he had no real interest in girls. But this girl was different. She was all he could think about. As fate would have it, their paths crossed again at a mutual friends weekend get together (not as successfully as Roberto would have liked), only to lose touch with her when the weekend was over. Finally, they go out a short time later and a deep unforgettable romance blossomed between the two. Then, a foolish mistake tears them apart for years. Roberto never loses sight of his one true love but continues to make poor decision after poor decision. But true love surely must win in the end, right? This is one of those novels that sucks you right into the story. I was drawn in from the very first page and didn’t put it down until i finished all 244 pages. So beautifully written, so smooth, almost as if it was written as a true memoir and not a work of fiction. I am not a fan of love stories, but this was so much more than an average love story. Beautiful, tragic, and sad at the same time. This book is definitely a great read. I highly recommend giving this one a try. 5 out of 5 stars

***DISCLAIMER: I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an HONEST opinion. I do not profit from this in any way.

AnItalianObsessionBannerAIO New CoverIn the lax atmosphere of middle-class post-war Italy, sex and drugs are easy to come by. Roberto tries to find his own balance, but a crush he had for Alessandra in elementary school is reignited and the course of his life is changed forever.

>>>Love, Sex And Betrayal
It’s the 1970’s, a time of political upheaval driven by disillusioned young people. Roberto is caught up in the times. He makes a new start, but his past catches up with him. Finding himself accused of a crime, he must defend himself even when he isn’t sure he committed it.

A new adult novel that will grab you and won’t let you go.

Meet the Author:

Kfir was born and raised in Italy, and moved to Israel as a teenager. He acquired the love for the English language from his father, a former U.S. soldier and WWII veteran, a voracious reader and a prolific writer.

With a PhD in chemical engineering and a long family history that he needs to live up to, Kfir work as a patent attorney and heads the patent law firm that was established by his great-grandfather in Milan, Italy, in 1869. Kfir lives in Omer, Israel, with his full-time partner, Esther, their four children, Michal, Lilach, Tamar and Yonatan, and the dog Elvis.

Writing has always been Kfir’s passion and for almost four years he wrote a weekly “Patents” column in Globes (Israel’s financial newspaper), which also yielded his only (if he can help it) non-fiction book, THE WORLD OF PATENTS, (a not-so-boring tale of what patents are about, in Hebrew), which was published in 2002 by Globes Press.

Kfir loves writing short stories but has too many novels waiting to be written (and possibly not enough years ahead of him to write them all), so now he mostly writes full-length fiction. His other passion is working with other authors on stories he loves and that’s how he wound up serving on the editorial board of The Harrow Press as Anthology Editor.

You can read about Kfir’s books here. He loves them all, but never had greater fun than when working on “HAVE BOOK WILL TRAVEL”, a YA fantasy that he wrote together with his son, Yonatan.
