Happy Fathers Day

Happy Fathers Day!
Today is a day set aside to celebrate Fathers; to honor and spoil the dads in our lives. Some people don’t have a dad or father. While others have many. The dad I celebrate the most is the one that I live with, the dad to my kids.
My husband is a great dad. The girls always want to play with him. He is their perfect “toy”. His current awesomeness is building the girls a tree house. Even though he is not a handy man and the girls may be to big by the time it’s built; he is building it! He taught them to ride bikes and even drives around with an untrained teenager.

Being a dad is an important role whether raising a son or daughter. I grew up with sisters and only have 1 son (and 4 girls). I believe that a daughter needs her daddy even more than a son. Girls need to have someone to protect them and wrap around their finger. A dad sets a guideline for her husband one day. Most little girls want to marry their dad when they are little. Then when she grows up she tends to marry someone close to her dad.
As for me, I have two dads. I was born from Rick and raised by Roger. My real dad was not part of my life growing up. I only occasionally got to see a picture of him. My mom hated him and he lived in Florida somewhere. I knew very little of the man he was. I will come back to him again though.
My dad that raised me was Roger and he did pretty well. He came into my life when I was 18 months old and I don’t ever remember him not being there. Mom worked nights and he raised us girls kind of alone. At times he treated me as though I was not his, especially in my childhood. When I got to be a teenager, things were better. We could talk and did. Now we are good and he will always be my dad.

When I was 17, I met my read dad. I lived on my own since the age of 16, had a baby and a man. I came home in the end of June to a message on my phone from him. He came over and just like that I had another instant family! He had a wife, 1 son, and 3 daughters. He has since gone and come again in my life.

I know that he is a good dad though from my siblings with him. They are all adults now too and have families of their own. They are all doing well and have obviously been taught love. I lived with them for a short time and he was always there for them. I longed for that. It’s funny I have 2 dads and always feel as though I don’t have one at all!
So on this Fathers day celebrate the dads in your life. They are amazing and a blessing to have. Spoil them with some foot rubs, back scratches, and love today!
