Creamy Crockpot Split Pea Soup

This creamy crockpot split pea soup is amazing and really easy! Split pea soup with ham is perfect for a cold day. Try it cold on a nice summer day! I like to eat it either way. When I am warming it up the next day I usually eat a few bites of it cold! Its so fabulous either way.

 

Crockpot Split Pea Soup Recipe:

Ingredients:

1 pound dried split peas (rinsed and pick thru for bad ones)
3 stalks celery, chopped
3 carrots, sliced
1 large onion, diced
2 bay leaves
1 clove garlic, finely diced
1 ham bone or ham hock
6 cups water
8 ounces of diced ham
1 1/2 cups half & half

Directions:

Place all ingredients (EXCEPT ham and half & half) in your crockpot and turn of high for about 4 hours (low for about 6) You can stir it once or twice but resist the urge to lift the lid and peek.
Remove bay leaves and bone. Stir in ham and half & half. Place lid back on and cook for another 30-60 minutes to warm the ham. Serve and enjoy #homemadeYUMMY
