Apple Betty #Recipe
Apple Betty is like a dutch apple pie without the crust. Its perfect for a crustless pie or those who cannot make a crust. My husband loved it warmed up for breakfast. My kids loved it for dessert with ice-cream on top. It is so fabulous either way. Don’t be fooled by its small 8×8 pan size either. This is a rich and filing dessert that you will only want a small piece of. It will go much further than you think!
This recipe is quick and easy and most people will already have the ingredients on hand. I used dark brown sugar because I wanted a richer flavor. You can substitute with regular brown sugar if thats what you have.
Apple Betty Recipe
Ingredients:
7 cups apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
3 tablespoons lemon juice
4 tablespoons cinnamon sugar mixture
2 cups flour
3/4 cup dark brown sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
8 tablespoons butter (1 stick)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375. Grease and 8 x 8 glass pan. Once apples are peeled, cored, and sliced place in a bowl. Toss with the lemon juice to coat and then coast with with cinnamon and sugar combination.
Place apples in the greased pan. Using the same bowl you tossed the apples in, add the remaining ingredients. Mix together until the mixture resembles cornmeal or brown sugar.
Top the apples with the mixture and place in oven for 20-25 minutes or until lightly browned. Let cool slightly and serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and enjoy. #homemadeYUMMY
