A Healthier and Happier Springtime

I am not in the greatest shape. Last year I decided to make small changes that I could live with to the better myself physically. I didn’t want to go on another diet that would be hard and make me end up gaining more in the long run. So I make a new change every month or so.

My first step was to strengthen myself some. I didn’t want to go to big and sign up for a gym. So I started really small. I began doing push-ups on the wall. I started out doing just 10. Slowly I kept adding more every few days. This was 3 months ago and I now do 50. I split it up in reps of 20 and then the last ten are now done on the counter instead of the wall.

My second step was to stop having soda all the time. I can have a glass with dinner occasionally. Another change is to not eat for a few hours before you go to bed. I also started parking out far at all stores, I get more exercise walking further and I don’t have to circle the parking lot looking for a good spot. Double bonus!

This month I have added breakfast as my new change. I am really bad about getting up and just having coffee for breakfast. That will keep me full and running until afternoon when I crash. My problem with breakfast is I need something fast and easy or I won’t eat it. I decided that I better go with a cereal. I can also get some of my calcium this way!

Natures Valley

I found Nature Valley cereal at my local Publix and I am in love! So is my grandson, he loves it so much he wants to munch on it all day. I don’t have to feel bad for feeding it to him either. The ingredient list is small and not full of HUGE words no one can ever read.

My favorite Nature Valley Cereal is the Oat Bites/ I can either eat a bowl of cereal or add about a 1/4 cup of the cereal to my yogurt. Eating a healthy breakfast can actually kickstart your metabolism for the day. Try to make small changes to your family and see where it takes you.

I’d like to try the Oat Bites. I’m picky about cereal though and don’t like anything too sweet!

I’d like to try the Honey Oat Clusters. I love the Crunch Honey granola bars and think I would love the Honey flavored the best.
