I received an iSwimband for the purpose of this review. This post was made possible by Mom Spark Media. Thoughts are my own.

Moms with young swimmers and toddlers can now relax a little more around the pool. The iSwimband is a great device that could give anyone with a young swimmer or even a toddler a little more comfort to maybe read a book at the pool. iSwimband is a wearable drowning detection system.

When I was a child I almost drowned at a family reunion. My cousin, who could swim, took me for a ride around the deep end of the pool. With me on her back, we headed out over our heads. Soon we were under the water! I remember struggling to breathe. Her mom jumped in and saved both of us.

That instance has given an enormous fear of the water. I can swim now but while my kids were babies I was terrified near water. I only took them to the beach if I had a person to watch each kid.

When we bought a house I didn’t want a pool for fear of my babies drowning. I never took my eyes off the kids when they are in the pool. I wouldn’t read or socialize.

My grandson is now almost 2 years old and he lives in a home with a pool. My stress went through the roof. There is a baby fence around the pool but anyone that has had a toddler knows not much holds them back if they really want something.

I was very pleased to receive the iSwimband. Of course you still can’t just leave little ones in or near a pool alone but it can give you some peace of mind to read a little or socialize with the group.

The iSwimband connects to your bluetooth device (only Apple products right now but Android is in the works). The pairing is really simple and if your techno-illiterate like I am, they are quick to help you with any problems you have. Once connected you just place either a headband or a arm/wrist band on and set your device to a swimmer or non-swimmer!

Yes, that is correct, you can set this up so that a child that swims can still go under the water without setting the alarm off. You can set the alarm to go off if the child is under water for 10 seconds all the way up to 60 seconds. They only suggest 20 seconds.

I love that this band can grow with my grandson and we can feel secure even as he learns to swim. The only issue I had is with the little clasp that hold the band on. There is only one that you have to interchange between the headband and the armband. Its not that big of a deal but worth pointing out.
