Cheeseburger Casserole #Recipe

I grew up eating hamburger helper and super easy meals. My mom worked 2nd shift and dad was left to cook for us. I remember quite a few burned meals and then he started to figure it out!

As a young adult I quickly learned the difference between freshly made food from scratch and food from a box. I made Hamburger helper one time at 17 and had an awful time trying to get it to come out. I still have trouble making boxed food. If it comes with a powder that you turn into sauce, I cannot make it!

This Cheeseburger casserole is my version of hamburger helper. My kids always want to try it and never have. I choose to make one for National Cheeseburger Day. As we ate this one of my daughter kept saying that it tastes just like a McDonalds cheeseburger. I thought so too! Let me know what you think!

Cheeseburger Casserole Recipe:

Ingredients:

1 recipe Macaroni and Cheese (or 1 pound mac n cheese already prepared)
1 pound ground beef
1/2 teaspoon burger spice (I used Weber)
1 cup Diced pickles ( I chopped up hamburger slices)
1/4-1/2 cup ketchup
about 1/4 cup mustard

  Directions:

Preheat oven to 425.

In a skillet, brown the beef with the burger spice sprinkled on it. Drain the grease.

Add the ground beef and chopped pickles to the macaroni and cheese. Stir to combine.

Pour into a 9×13 casserole dish. Spread the ketchup on top of the macaroni and cheese mixture. Now squeeze on a little mustard in a back and forth action.

Bake for 15-20 minutes. Serve hot and Enjoy! #HomemadeYUMMY
