Meatball Subs

Meatball Subs

My son LOVES anything with beef! He also loves Italian food. This is one of his favorite meals to eat. The meatballs are simple to make and can be baked or fried in a pan. I also make my sauce homemade and not from a jar. You can get the recipe for my Red Meat Sauce HERE. Well I am off to make some of these delicious meatball subs for dinner. This recipe also bakes well. I tend to bake them almost as much as I fry them. Heat the oven to 400 and bake for about 15 minutes.

Meatball Sub Recipe:

Ingredients:

2 lbs ground beef
2 lbs sausage
1 ½ tsp garlic powder
1 ½ tsp Italian seasoning
1 cup parmesan cheese
1 cup bread crumbs
Oil for frying
2 jars of spaghetti sauce or a recipe of Red Meat Sauce
2 loaves French bread
Sliced mozzarella

Directions:
Mix together the ground beef and sausage well. Add garlic powder, Italian seasoning, cheese, bread crumbs, and eggs. Stir well to combine. Heat just enough oil to cover the bottom of the pan on medium high heat.

I used a small ice cream scooper to form my meatballs. Brown the meatballs on at least 2 sides and drain on a wire rack. Don’t worry about cooking them all the way, they will finish cooking in the sauce.

Open the jars of sauce and pour in a large pan. Add the meatballs and stir. Cover and cook on low for 40 minutes (or leave it for longer).
