Homemade Playdough
This recipe is so worth the cooking process. There are recipes out there that are faster and you don’t have to cook it. I have tried other recipes and I always come back to this one. I have been using it for about 18 years. The recipe below comes out satiny and PERFECT to play with. Keep it in zippered bags and it will last for weeks. You can make it white and add smaller amounts of color after it’s cooked. It’s just messier to color that way! This homemade play dough recipe comes out the same texture as the store bought kind.
Homemade Play Dough
Ingredients:
2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup salt
1 tsp cream of tartar (the spice isle)
1 tsp food coloring or ½ tsp color gel
2 cups water
1 tablespoon oil
Directions:
Mix the dry ingredients together in a medium sauce pan. Now add the remaining ingredients. Mix and place on the stove on Medium/almost medium high.
Stir constantly and make sure you scrape the bottom really good! It will start to get clumpy, that’s ok just keep stirring.
Stir until it forms a ball and comes off the sides of the pan.
Place on a floured counter and let it cool.
Once cooled, kneed it for a minute or so.
