Caramel Apple Dumplings #Recipe
I had never had an apple dumpling before creating this recipe. I had heard about them but wasn’t quite sure what they were. I scoured the internet to find out an apple dumpling is just a cored apple filled with yumminess and wrapped in pie crust, baked to golden and served.
For my yumminess in the middle I decided to fill it with caramel. Caramel Apple Dumplings were born from my love of all things caramel!
Caramel Apple Dumplings Recipe:
Ingredients:
1 double pie crust
8 small apples
1 recipe caramel (or 1 package caramel candies)
flour for dusting
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350. Peel and core the apples leaving them whole.
Roll out the dough and cut into (8) 5-inch pieces on a lightly floured surface.
Place an apple in the center of one of the square pie crusts. Fill the center of apple with some of the caramel. If you did not make fresh caramel you will have to either microwave the caramel for a few seconds or roll the caramel in your hands to make it more pliable.
Grab opposite corners of the dough and pinch them together. Repeat for the other corners.
Repeat with the remaining 7 apples and pie crusts. Place them on a lightly greased baking sheet with an inch or two between each of them.
Bake for 20-30 minutes depending on the size of the apples. The crust will be lightly golden. Serve and enjoy! #homemadeYUMMY
