Canned Biscuit Donuts
Biscuit donuts bring back memories of being a kid. My mom would make them on rare occasions during our school breaks in winter and summer. They were always the best when still warm. My sister and I would sit barely patient, waiting for the first batch to cook. Mom would make them as a late morning snack on a Saturday. To this day my family still has donut Saturday, although now they are mainly store bought ones.
I make these occasionally for slumber parties my children have. The donut is not sweet but the coating sure does add enough. These could be done with a glaze or frosting too! I added the chocolate one since I started making them for my family. I hope that these treats can be the occasional memory maker in your family too!
Here is the recipe:
Canned Biscuit Donuts
Ingredients:
2 cans biscuits (10 in each)
Flour to dust counter
Oil (enough to fill pan about an 1½ inches)
Directions:
Heat oil on medium-high in a deep skillet. Start with a ten pack of canned biscuits (not the oversized ones). Lightly flour the work area and flatten a biscuit with your hand. Using anything round and small (a soda bottle lid works) cut the center out to form a donut. Fry in oil until both sides are golden brown. Remove and quickly toss in coating. #homemadeYUMMY
